Marly Jean Henry (Tucker) was born on March 28, 1952, in Rochester, New York, to George and Mary Tucker. The eldest of two daughters, Marly grew up in Rochester and graduated from Charlotte Junior/Senior High School, Class of 1970. She went on to attend Community Village of Finger Lakes in Rochester before transferring to SUNY, where she earned her degree with a focus in psychology and social work.
In 1994, Marly moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she later married Carson Henry in a beautiful ceremony at Lake Tahoe, California, in 1995. Marly dedicated over 25 years of her career to the medical field, working first at St. Rose Hospital, later serving at the State of Nevada, and Boulder City Hospital. Her compassion and dedication touched countless lives throughout her years of service.
Marly’s life was full of color, laughter, and adventure. In high school, she was known for cruising around in her beloved Chevrolet Corvair and if you ever cut her off, you might’ve heard her signature line: “Where’d you get your driver’s license out of a grab bag?”
During her college years, she worked at Star Market, where she formed lifelong friendships and loved to go to the Watkins Glen races where they rarely caught a race but loved to camp out and watch the mud bogs. She carried that same spark throughout her life, nurturing passions for travel, animals, and laughter.
In the last decade, Marly embraced her love of travel, exploring the world with close friends on a Baltic cruise in 2019 sailing from Copenhagen to Oslo, Stockholm, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, and Berlin. She later embarked on a breathtaking fall foliage tour through New York and Nova Scotia. She cherished her travel companions Sherry, Bob, Cindy, Dianne, and her best friend since kindergarten, Nancy. Together, they celebrated milestone birthdays every five years after turning 55 visiting destinations like Riviera Maya, Folly Beach, and more.
Marly had a quick wit and a heart full of love. She adored her birds and her two pups, and she could often be found laughing at old episodes of Jerry Springer. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved.
And in true Marly fashion, she’d leave us all with this one last reminder:
“I’ve got two words for you, pal and they aren’t happy birthday.”
Marly was preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Tucker, her beloved husband Carson Henry, her sister Kim Henry, her sister-in-law Roseann Henry, and her son Tucker Henry.
She is survived by her son Carson Henry, her extended family, and countless friends who will forever cherish her warmth, humor, and love. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity in Marly’s honor.
