Nick was Born August 1, 1938 in Worcester, MA to Giovanni Campanale and Santa Aramento. Nick has two sisters Rosalie Fiorino and Donna O’Leary. Nick was married to Marcella Campanale and was a kind and loving husband. Nick was an amazing father to his children who taught them to be independent, honest, and hardworking...Family was Everything! Nick had a motto, to live life to its fullest each day you were privileged to have. Nick cherished his family and friends and took a personal interest in each one of them.
Nick carried the burden of cancer heroically up the stairs of Calvary and he has shown us how we should be when we are called to our maker. He suffered silently during his courageous fight with cancer because he had a great appreciation of life and a strong will to live. Nick was always devoted to his family and loved ones. Nick was a man of service not to the Navy but to the community as well. Nick was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, the Elks Lodge and Submariners Base 51 Submarines Veterans Las Vegas. Nick served 21 years in the United States Navy retiring as YNC Chief as a Submariner and 20 years with the United States Postal Service as supervisor. Nick had the privilege of traveling the world while in the United States Navy and he continued his travels in retirement. While in the Navy he was stationed twice in South Carolina, three times in California, Illinois, Maryland, Maine and Italy.
After retiring from the Navy, Nick continued his education with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Production Engineering. Nick retired from the work force in August 2003 and began his new life’s journey. One of Nick’s favorite activities during retirement was his love for Casinos. He made sure he hit every casino in every state he passed through. He would map out his trips and created his own “trip tik” based on where the casinos were located. Nick’s game of choice was craps and poker. Nick’s favorite local casino was Club Fortune where he was known by all throughout the casino. Nick preferred the local establishments over the big strip casinos.
Nick was also an avid “cruiser” where he enjoyed traveling on cruise ships. He went on 20 cruises around the globe. Nick invested in a motorhome where he traveled the US exploring sites and visiting family and friends.
Nick was known by many and loved by all. If you met him then you instantly became his friend. He would get your name and address and you were assured to receive a Christmas Card or Christmas letter during the next holiday season. He had a famous smile that was so contagious that you too would have a smile on your face shortly after being in his presence.
As he passed into the light his eyes were full of wonder and anticipation. He has met his ancestors and will rejoice, that he has made the journey into life everlasting.
