Norma Dean Hurt
11.03.1939 - 05.01.2021
Norma Dean Hurt passed away at 81 years old on May 1st, 2021 at her home in North Las Vegas, Nevada surrounded by family and friends.
She was born Norma Dean Salmon in Van Buren County, Arkansas on 11-03-1939 to parents Claude and Martha Salmon. She was the youngest of 6 children. Maude, George, Conard, and now Norma have passed on.
Norma was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 12 years, Richard Erwin Hurt, who passed two weeks prior. She was also preceded in death by her parents, the siblings mentioned above, grandaughter Coral R. Ferguson, nephew Bobby Joe Weaver and her best and lifelong friend Phyliss Myers of Bishop, CA. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, and the father of her 3 children, Arthur Warren, and her 2nd husband of 22 years Kenneth Russell Eschback.
Norma is survived by her sisters Audrey and Faye, who are still alive and well in the small town of Shirley, Arkansas. Her children Robert Louis Warren, Charles Arthur Warren, and Patricia Elizabeth (Warren) Raschka. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Danielle Marie Warren, Brittany Nicole Kempe, Shellsea Savannah Warren, Charles Delaney Warren, Heather Warren and Kelly Warren. Norma was blessed with 4 great grandchildren; Liam Louis Pedraza, McKenzie Nicole Kempe, Cable Russell Smith and Kora Ann Kempe. She is survived by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Last and certainly not least, she is survived by her very best and lifelong friend Leroy Myers of Bishop, CA and niece Alice Weaver of Shirley, Arkansas.
Norma loved music and dancing. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. She loved a good joke or prank, and she could take it as well as dish it out. She was cheerful in all kinds of weather, and it was rare to not see a smile on her face. She stood 4’10” and although diminutive in stature; she was twice that to those who loved and knew her.
Norma was a loving and caring mom, and supportive in all aspects of her children’s lives, but did not tolerate rude behavior. Talking back to her was not advised. If she wasn’t close enough to grab you, her left shoe would find you with pin point accuracy. She could pull a shoe and fire it faster than John Wayne could clear leather. Earlier in life She enjoyed spending time on the beach, watching the kids surf, digging clams, and attending baseball games. Later in life she enjoyed watching NASCAR on Sundays after Church, walking her dog in the park, and relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening and a Dodgers game. She loved her birds and she loved her flowers.
It is hard to say in this short writing, all that Norma’s life was about, nor the people, places and things she loved. She was a fantastic human being and will be forever missed. God Speed.
Memorial services: May 29th, 2021, 10am-12pm at Grace Point Church 3794 W. Ann Rd. North Las Vegas, NV 89031
