Philip, a Colorado native, was born in Pueblo in 1945 and grew up in Canon City, CO. In 1964, Philip joined the United States Army. Serving proudly overseas in Germany and Vietnam, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and he earned the Expert Rifle Badge. In 1967, Philip was honorably discharged from the United States Army in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Upon exit from military service, Philip, a self-made electrical engineer, spent countless nights and weekends studying electronics courses to prepare him for a long and distinguished career in telecommunications. He began working for General Telephone as a Supply Clerk and retired as the Internal Network Services Staff Manager for Customer Planning. Throughout his career, Philip always sought to increase his knowledge and improve his expertise. He earned dozens of certifications in communications and received several recognitions for achievement. Among his many notable experiences he assisted in placing communications atop the World Trade Center in the early 1970’s and provided communications support for President Reagan’s visits to California throughout the 1980’s.
After he retired from General Telephone in 1998, Philip made an amazing hobby of communications and computer technologies. He was proud of his amateur radio license and Microsoft certification. There were few questions that Philip could not answer related to networking and computers. He spent much of his time developing solutions in Microsoft and Linux. His love of technology was only eclipsed by his love of his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving and kind man, who wanted nothing more than the best for his family.
