

After graduating from High School, Ray enlisted in the Army and served at the end of World War II in South Korea. Upon returning from Asia, Ray attended Maler Barber School in Fargo, North Dakota. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign War.
On April 08, 1953 Raymond married Evanell Kugler and moved to Rapid City, South Dakota. Ray barbered near Ellsworth Air Force Base and at the VA in Sturgis, South Dakota for over 50 years. Ray had a passion for his faith, family, and sports. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making everyone he met smile.
Ray is survived by his wife Evanell; daughters Teri (Randy) Hammerquist, Billings, MT. Karen (Steve) Waltman, Henderson, NV. and son James (Cathy) Janousek, Libertyville, IL. Also surviving are grandchildren, Brad (Erika) Hammerquist, Bryan( Erin) Hammerquist, Lindsey (Ryan) LaBarge, Ashley Waltman, Sarah (Matt) Miotti, Jeff (Haley) Janousek, Laura (Alex) Janousek-Blacketor, and great-grandchildren Lynnea, Arlo, Maisy, Cassidy, Evanelle, and Sawyer. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, and 4 brothers.
A Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Henderson, Nevada on January 02, 2026 at 10:00 AM, Burial will follow at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, NV at 12:00 PM.
