Robert Donald Boyle, age 76, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Robert was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Evelyn Huse and Stanley Boyle. His father worked for the government, so the family relocated a lot. Robert would spend the next 7 years in South America before the family would relocate back to San Marcos, in Southern California. Robert graduated from San Marcos High School in 1964. Following high school, Robert attempted to enlist in the U.S. Army. Due to a medical issue he had to have a surgery to correct a medical issue before he could enlist. He was determined and successful; and was able to enlist in the U.S. Army in May of 1966.
Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent immediately to Vietnam, where he served honorably. Through his hard work and dedication to duty; he achieved the rank of Specialist Four, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.
Bob returned to the United States, and back to Southern California to start a family and a career. He would work odd jobs here and there to support his young family, until landing a position in a computer department for MDM. Bob had an interest in computers, and although he did not have a lot of experience, he enjoyed growing within the company, eventually managing the department. While working in the field, Bob also continued his education taking single courses at a time until graduating with a Bachelor's Degree from Cal Poly. Even when MDM was bought out by Capcare, Bob proved he was an asset. In 1996, Bob relocated to Southern Nevada. While he and his wife, Mary were waiting for their home to be ready, Capcare, needed Bob's skills, and decided to send him for the next few months to South Africa. When he returned, he eventually left Capcare, obtaining a programming position for a company in Las Vegas, until 2001. Always wanting to keep active, Bob went on to tax preparation and then real estate before officially retiring in 2011.
In 1982, Bob would meet the love of his life, Mary Esther Singdale, at a square dance. A month later, the couple would be married at Mary's sister's home in Charter Oak, California, on May 7, 1982. Together they would blend their lives and families; Bob with his two sons; and Mary with five children of her own. As their families grew, they would eventually be blessed with 12 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who loved spending time with his family, outdoor activities, family game nights, cooking, and quiet time. He was fascinated with trains and astrology, and did lots of research learning all he could about them. He always had a new train set project to work on, a new constellation to explore; while enjoying wood working, and watching his favorite star trek and sci-fi movies and shows. In addition, he cherished the companionship of his wife, taking many cruises, traveling to South Africa, Alaska, the Beaches of Hawaii, Panama Canal, Mexico and Tahiti; painting ceramics, and even getting their pilots licenses together to fly planes. Robert was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. He always had a cat, and loved his dog.
Bob was quiet in nature, but adventurous. He lived his life to the fullest; he had a heart of gold, and will truly be missed.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Boyle, his mother, Evelyn Huse; and his granddaughter, Samantha Sawyer. He is survived by his wife, Mary Boyle; his children: Sandy Fisher, Renee Sawyer (Jack); Marvin Sawyer; Michael Sawyer; Donald Sawyer; Donald Boyle; and Michael Boyle; his brother, Steve Boyle; his grandchildren: Johanna Strianese, Amanda Sawyer, Heather Sawyer, Lauren Sawyer, Carmen Sawyer, Elizabeth Sawyer, Glen Fisher, Steven Sayers, Jennifer Lewis, Diana Lewis and Seth Sawyer; and 22 Great Grandchildren.
