Robert “Rob” J. Wiek, age 79, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 26, 1946, and grew up in Richfield. Rob graduated from DeLaSalle High School and later attended the University of Wisconsin–River Falls.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Rob served his country with honor during the Vietnam War from June 8, 1966, to June 7, 1972, including a tour in-country from 1968 to 1969. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and was a lifetime member of both the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He also served with pride in the honor guard.
On September 22, 1990, Rob married the love of his life and best friend, Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Wiek. Together, they shared 35 beautiful years of marriage filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
Rob found joy in the simple pleasures—running, card games, board games, puzzles, poetry, photography, and, most of all, spending time with family and friends. His warmth, humor, and generous spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his beloved son, Ian Wiek. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Wiek; daughters, Heather M. Boxeth and Melissa A. Smith; sons, Matthew Smith and Dylan Dragswiek; sister, Nona Rouse; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews—who will continue to carry his love in their hearts.
