

Roberta F. Larsen, age 87, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023. She was born in Glasgow, Montana to her parents Frances and Robert Bender. Roberta was raised on a animal farm in Seattle, Washington, where she enjoyed playing hopscotch, jumping rope, tap dancing, riding her bike, and spending time with her friends; as well as the many animals on the farm. As she got older and in High School, Roberta enjoyed going shopping and having lunch downtown with her mother, learning to play the piano and read sheet music, singing, drawing and coloring, learning to type, and driving a stick shift. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1953 prepared for the working world as a secretary, as she her favorite classes were in typing and taking shorthand. Roberta continued her education by obtaining her Associate of Arts degree in music arts.
On June 14, 1955, Roberta would marry the love of her life, Harold J. Larsen at St.Pauls Catholic Church in Seattle, Washington. Together the couple would be blessed with three children; two daughters Rolinda and Joni, and their son, Jon. As their family grew there were blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In the 1960's, the family relocated to Boulder City, Nevada prior to settling in Las Vegas. Roberta would soon take a position as Secretary to the Dean at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Little did she know this would be just the beginning of a rewarding career that would span over the next 30 years, retiring in 1996.
Roberta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who, enjoyed spending time with her family in the outdoors, raising her grandson, and sharing in the lives of her family. She loved singing, shopping, decorating, walking, playing racquetball, playing piano, and boating. Roberta was charitable and always active in her community; volunteering with the boys and girls club, St. Viator Catholic Community, and the Disabled Veterans of America. In retirement, she loved relaxing and spending time with her husband, bowling in leagues, traveling to San Diego and Maui, and visiting her favorite casinos. In her spare time, she still liked supporting her professional football Icon, Tom Brady, both with the New England Patriots and then with Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She also loved Horse Racing and supporting her favorite nascar driver, Jimmie Johnson.
Roberta was kind and compassionate, supportive of her family, passionate and giving. She lived life to the fullest and always greeted you with a smile. She loved animals, touched many lives, and will truly be missed.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Larsen; son, Jon Larsen (Tammy); father, Robert Bender and her mother, Frances Bender. Roberta is survived by her grandson, Ryan Larsen (Amy), daughters: Joni Larsen (Thomas) and Rolinda Wisham (Lonnie); grandson, Tad Larsen; and her great grandchildren: Zayden Larsen, Damian Larsen and Ayva Larsen.
A visitation for Roberta will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015, followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM noon. Roberta will be laid to rest privately at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
