8/23/1935 – 03/29/2023
Thoi Thi Quach, 88, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2023. She was surrounded by her children and loving partner, Ngamsann Ung by her side. He was next to her holding her hand as he always had until her very last day. She was the love of his life.
Thoi was born in 1935 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Anh Quach and Zheng Quach. She met her husband Ngamsann when she was 21 and starting her own family. She had six children that she devoted her life to: Catherine Ung (Henry), Norway Ung (Xuan), Sweden Ung (Phuong), Ceylon Choi (Victor), Joey Ung, and Kelly Ung.
Thoi survived living in Cambodia during the Vietnam War and the communist takeover of Cambodia. She managed to keep her family together living in labor camps and later in refugee camps before migrating to The United States.
She arrived in America in January of 1981, first settled in San Francisco, CA and then relocated to Sandy, UT. It was in Sandy that her children found steady careers in the medical device industry. It was after settling in Utah that Thoi welcomed her first few grandchildren, Lisa Cavaliere (John), Steven Choi (Eileen), Linda Phan (Tu), Carlene Ha (Johnson), Hanson Bun. She then relocated to Los Angeles, CA where she watched Michael Truong (Jackie), Sofia Ung, Silvia Ung, Jeffrey Choi, and Justin Ung grow up. Later in her life she welcomed another grandchild (Angelinny), as well as great grandchildren including Brandon Phan, Brynn Phan, Andrew John Cavaliere, Parker Sai-Ka Choi, Alexander Henry Cavaliere, Harper Hoeng Choi, Weston Henry Ha, and Aspen Hsu Truong. She was so proud of every one of her eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her dedication to her family, courageously bringing them to America to start a new life and ensuring every one of her descendants would have the support and access to the things they needed for a comfortable life.
Thoi loved going to the market for fresh groceries and preparing delicious meals for her family. She spent hours making batches of egg rolls, steamed Chinese buns, noodle soups that simmered for hours, and butter cupcakes. She also enjoyed watching Chinese action movies and the WWF.
Thank you for all your sacrifices, Ma, and dedicating your life to taking care of all of us. We will always love you and cherish what you’ve done for our family.
