Today we remember Vera Love Longenecker, whose spirit departed us on October 15, 2024 at the age of 79. Vera has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Born January 7, 1945 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada to her beloved parents Wally and Anne Zarubick, Vera enjoyed ice skating and playing with her older brother, Vic, as a young girl. Around age 8, Vera, along with her family, came to the United States. They settled in Azusa, California, where Vera grew up, met her childhood best friend, Fran (who later married her cousin Gary Zarubick), and attended junior college. Vera began working at Hughes Aircraft as an Executive Secretary, where she met the love of her life, and fellow Hughes Aircraft employee, Larry Longenecker, in February 1986. The two were soon married on September 6, 1986. On this date, Vera gained three step children, Laurel Ann Longenecker-White, Lawrence Robert Longenecker Jr., and Larissa Robin Longenecker-Goodall. Throughout her married life with Larry, the two relocated several times due to Larry’s work. They lived in Mission Viejo, California, Orange, California, Brandon, Mississippi, Tucson, Arizona, and finally retired to their beautiful home in Henderson, Nevada. Vera was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, her step children along with their spouses Primas White, Ronin Goodall, and Shannon Longenecker, her step grandchildren Kiara, Karina, Kendall, Olivia, Quinn, Aiden, and Makenzie, and step great-grandchildren Ziah, Stella, and Aurora. Please join us in celebrating Vera’s remarkable life.
