Monica Pino

Monica Pino (born Monica Calderon) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, January 28, 2022. Monica was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on May 4, 1962. She came to the United States as a teenager and became a proud US citizen while still ensuring her family and children remembered and celebrated their Ecuadorian culture. She spent many years in New Jersey before moving to Florida in 2001 where she would spend the remainder of her days. She has strong and close communities in both New Jersey and Florida and will be remembered fondly and mourned deeply by family and loved ones in both states as well as across the country and hemisphere. Monica was full of joy and life. She loved music, dancing, and spending time with family and loved ones. She had a strong faith, with an unwavering reassurance that she would be at peace next to God when her time on this earth was over. She and her husband Pedro were devoted members of their church - St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Hialeah, Florida.

She is predeceased by her parents, Carlos Luis Calderón Arauz and Barbara Concepción Alvarado Garcia. She is survived by her husband, Pedro Pino, her siblings Celeste Chudy, Rosario Calderon, Pilar Sterling. David Calderon, Barbara Calderon and Luis Calderon, her children and their spouses, Elizabeth and Gaetano D’Antonio, Monica and Thomas Ortiz, Elias and Amanda Quijano, and Sebastian Pino, her step-children and their spouses, Paul and Bertha Pino and Annette and Darry Gomez, and her fourteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Gaetano and Gia D’Antonio, Alexis Inoa, Aaliyah, Alyza, Alicia, and IsaiahaOrtiz, Mason and Acadia Quijano, Victoria, Sabrina, and Gabriela Pino and Dakota and Riley Gomez, as well as countless beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
