Abel Joseph Mejia

Born in Catawba County on May 16, 2004, he was the son of Ruben Mejia and Leticia Mejia.

Abel was a graduate of Hickory High School, and was a freshman at Indiana Bible College. His desire was to fulfill God’s will, he had a passion for Jesus. He was a loving, generous, kind soul who spent his life caring for others. He always had a smile on his face, and kept his family laughing from being so funny. Abel was a member of Truth Tabernacle UPCI. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his mother Leticia Mejia, and father Ruben Mejia; his sister Steffany Bishop and husband Bryan; brothers Joshua Mejia, Jonathan Mejia, and Bryant Mejia and wife Selena; niece Ariel Bishop, and nephews Isaiah Bishop and Canaan Mejia; His grandmother Gloria Eutimio; grandfather Noe Mejia; aunt Yanira de Rodriguez and husband Rene, their children Monica and Vanesa; uncle Mario Mejia; uncle Libni Mejia and wife Mila, their children Angie and Camila; Mejia family in El Salvador also survive him. His grandfather Jose Abel Mejia preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 12:00 to 1:45 pm at First Baptist Church of Hildebran. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Hildebran, with Pastor Marcus Huntley officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
