Al was born on July 8, 1953, to Marion and Robert Thibodeaux, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Thibodeaux; daughter, Allison Piland and husband Jeremy Piland; cherished grandchildren, Hannah Beaux Piland and Luke Stephen Piland; siblings Connie Butler, Bob Thibodeaux, and Chuck Thibodeaux; along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Al spent his working years as both a teacher and a salesman, careers that reflected his natural ability to connect with people and build meaningful relationships. Friendly and outgoing with a great smile, Al never met a stranger. He had many friends and a way of making people feel welcomed and valued.
Family meant everything to Al. He loved deeply and cared sincerely for those around him. He had a servant’s heart and made it a daily goal to brighten someone’s day, often going out of his way to encourage others or simply make them smile.
After retiring in 2014, Al and Peggy especially treasured the years they spent together. They enjoyed many wonderful cruises around the world and made countless treasured memories side by side. Al also loved the people at his church and deeply valued the friendships and fellowship he found there.
Though he enjoyed travel and adventure, Al was a homebody at heart. He loved cooking and spending time at home with the people he loved most. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether doing yard work or taking walks. He also loved staying active through hobbies that brought him joy, including working out at the YMCA, hiking in the mountains, swimming, and snow skiing.
Al cared deeply about people. His life was marked by kindness shown in everyday moments and by his genuine concern for others. He leaves behind not only cherished memories, but also the example of a life lived with generosity, love, and compassion.
He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, church family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his absence leaves a tremendous void, his love and the joy he brought to others will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Drum Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Thibodeaux family.
