Ms. Allene Rae Edwards Sudduth

ALLENE RAE EDWARDS SUDDUTH HICKORY-Allene Rae Edwards Sudduth, 86, of Hickory went home to be with her Heavenly Father on September 14, 2015. Born on May 18, 1929 in Ervin, TN to the late Hobert and Emma Stanley Edwards. Allene was the last surviving charter member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Hickory. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Allene enjoyed bird watching, doing word searches and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Will Sudduth, and brother, Lloyd Van Edwards. Survivors include her sister, Betty Edwards Lail and husband Jack of New London, NC; children, William Edward “Ed” Sudduth and wife Lonnie Carter Sudduth of Newton, Earl Van Sudduth and wife Gale Rich Sudduth of Seagrove, Barbara “Bobbie” Sudduth Cook of the home, Richard Neel Sudduth and wife Sandie Young Sudduth of Snow Hill, NC; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 3 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Rev. Homer Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2:30 PM at the funeral home.
