Barbara Ann (Bumgarner) Johnson

She was born in Catawba County on January 16, 1944; she was the daughter to the late Theodore “Babe” and Winnie Killian Bumgarner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Allen Bumgarner and his wife Ruth, and her brother Rayeford Bumgarner, and wife Lynne.

Barbara was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, where she was a dedicated member of the choir. She could often be found cutting the grass, or tending to her flower garden. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, and loved all children. Barbara was owner/operator of her own cleaning service. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James “Jim” Johnson of the home, her daughter Angela Merrill and husband Charles of Hickory; grandson Joshua Merrill and fiancé Laney Rowe of Charlotte, and her granddaughter Rachel Merrill of Boone.

Memorial service will be, Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Peace United Church of Christ with Reverend Sandi Hood officiating.

The family will receive friends, following memorial service from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the church.
