HICKORY-Marie Hudson Coffey, 74, of Hickory passed away peacefully at Catawba Regional Hospice on April 2, 2018. Born Bessie Marie Hudson, in Cleveland County on April 23, 1943, she was the daughter of the late J. Willie Hudson and Vera Lee Bumgardner Hudson. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Coffey, and grandson J. Alexander Hughes. She was a member of Spirit Filled Worship Center, where she served as secretary and a Sunday school teacher. Marie was also a member of the Longview Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her mother Vera Hudson; daughters Tina Roland (Mike) and Lisa Thomas (Danny); grandchildren, Michael Hughes (Kelli) , Lindsey H. Buff (Joshua), Linda Duffield ( Jimmy), Joshua Roland ( Rachel), great grandchildren Madison and T.J. Hughes, Hannah, and Madilynn Roland; brothers Zane Hudson, (Darlene), Jim Hudson, Gene Hudson (Rose Ann), Neel Hudson (Diane); “Bestie” Debbie Watts, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Saturday, April 7 at 10:30am at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rita Pritchard, Bishop Wade Danner and Rev. Roger Poarch officiating. Burial will follow at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
