Bruce John Ellis

HICKORY- Bruce John Ellis, 69 passed away, Monday, February 13, 2017 at his sister’s residence after a period of declining health. He was born August 9, 1947 in Caldwell County to the late Reverend John Ellis and Henretta Kirby Ellis. He was a furniture worker, a supervisor in the printing department at Drexel Heritage till he was on disability, he worked a number of years. He attended Gloryland Baptist Church in Hildebran where his dad was pastor for several years. His dad baptized him. He loved fishing with his buddies. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth Harrold and a brother David Ellis, a niece Patty Brady, nephew Danny Ray Sigmon, and great nephews David Darty and Scottie Ray Sigmon. Survivors include a son Jonathan Ellis of Hickory; a daughter Jana Christie and husband Tim of Virginia; a sister Peggy Griffin of Hickory his caregiver and nieces Pamela Withers and husband Jimmy of Connelly Springs and Lisa Icard and husband Bridget of Granite Falls; nephews Benjamin Ellis of Lenoir and Bobby Ellis of Taylorsville; 3 grandchildren Alexis, Megan and Jordan. Bruce has 2 special grand pups who thinks he is papaw, Cosmo and Turbo who he adores. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11:00 am at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Doug Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Ellis Family Cemetery in Lenoir.
