CHARLES EDWARD WALKER CONOVER- Charles E. Walker, 81 of Conover went home to be with his Lord on February 21, 2015. Born February 7, 1934 to the late David and Willie Mae Walker in Catawba County. Charles was a lifelong member of Springs Road Baptist Church in Hickory. Charles was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. He enjoyed spending time with his family, outdoors, and working on cars. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers; Bobby Walker, James Walker, Alvin Walker, George Walker, and David Walker, Jr., and in-laws; Theodore and Ruby Hinson. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Mary Lou Hinson Walker, daughters; Regina Walker Tuttle and husband Doyle of Claremont, and Charlene Walker Schlitt and husband Christopher of Vero Beach, FL, grandchildren; Dylan Walker-Shook and wife Natalie, Clayton Schlitt and fiancée Nadine Balbi, Taylor Schlitt, Megan Shook, Holly Tuttle and fiancé Joshua Hamilton, and Derick Shook and fiancée Aimee Deal, great-grandchildren; Drew Walker-Shook, Taylen Shook, and Haley Hamilton, sisters; Eloise, Betty, Carrie Jane, and Dianne, his loving dog Casper, and many nieces, nephews, close extended family members and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Catawba Funerals & Cremation at 2 pm with Pastor Lonnie Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
