Claude Leroy Barger, 92, of Hickory, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Trinity Village in Hickory. Claude was born August 26, 1924 in Catawba County to the late Ellis Barger and Agnes Townsend Barger. A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II from 1943 until 1946. He was a member of Hickory Seventh-day Adventist Church and retired as a case fitter from the local furniture industry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Catherine Lucille Bowman Barger and grandson, Justin Matthew Barger.
He is survived by his son, Michael Barger and wife Karen; daughter, Paulette Franklin; granddaughter, Cynthia Clark and husband Jamie; and great-granddaughter, Abby Clark.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Hickory Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Art Randall officiating.
