Time passes quickly, but memories never fade. My husband met Darrell in 2000, when he went to work for Superior in Conover. They became quick friends and coworkers. They not only drove trucks, but did construction for the company. They even did a 6 month stint with Fed Ex driving all over the United States as team drivers.  In 2013, they both moved on to B and B Transport continuing their friendship and careers. They rode together on their harleys and did several bike rallys as well.  Darrell was always a kind soul and treated us like family. We mourn his loss and pray for his mother, children, and grandchildren. He is looking down and smiling with pride for all those who have known and loved him. Godspeed Darrell till we meet again.

Words can’t describe just how great of a guy, friend, co worker he was. Great father to his kids and animals. I’ve talked with Darell almost every day for the past 5years I’ve known him. We hit it off like best buds since day one.  We road Harley’s together and worked together. Just last summer he got a boat and we all took it out a few times and I remembered just how relaxed he was when he was floating around in his boat. He loved life and the great outdoors. He was one of the few I could call for advise and had great wisdom. I will never forget him and my heart goes out to him and his family. 

I didn't know darrell personally. I am a fellow driver. I would pass darrell on the road and we would throw our hands up to one another. My condolences go out to everyone who loved him. I wish people would slow their lives down and look for us more, this happens way too much. Sorry about your loss again, he will he missed

I Worked With Darrell At Superior Petroleun And Bumgarner Oil He Was A Very Hard Worker And Good Man I Lost Contact With Him After I Left Bumgarner oil I Only Rode once With Him But It Was One Of The Most Memorable Rides I Had Ever Been On ,I Would Always Try To Chat With Him Every Chance I Got At Work But One Thing I Know He Loved The Lord And His Family Very Much and He Will Be Missed Very Much.And To All The Family And Friends I'm sorry For Your Loss And My Wife And I Will Keep You In Our Prayers.

You were my first cousin and our last visit was two years ago in March. A nice visit catching up with one another and I'll always remember our conversation. We spoke about how family should keep in touch and that it was sad that people were so wrapped up in life that we just don't take time to visit.  I know you are with our Lord and take comfort in knowing that. Rest in peace cousin and we will visit again one day in heaven. Sending love to Aunt Carrie and rest of your family. 

Our family will miss you forever, Nephew!  You gave your life to save someone who pulled out in front of your truck, that was the kind of person you were.  My sister Carrie loved you with all her heart! You were her only child and she will never get over losing Darrell. He is in Heaven and in God's presence, Rip.

Darrell was a wonderful man, his family meant everything to him, you are in heaven now and will be missed. 

We do not know Darrell, but feel compelled to extend our condolences to your family. We travel a lot and have great respect for those in the trucking industry. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I dont know Darrell, but my son is a first year OTR truck driver. It's taken me a year to get comfortable with my son being a trucker.I'm so sad for your whole family's loss. This has bothered me since the moment I heard on the news how he lost his life to spare a vehicle that pulled out in front of him..It shows by all the comments from people how the public highly respects the job of professional drivers.  Praying for God to comfort everyone and especially Darrell's mother.....from all these wonderful comments its obvious he has a very good  Mother.  Much love and respect to you all...I can see Darrell was a fine man...there will be brighter days ahead in time. .

I'm so proud of my father-in-law ! They just don't make them like him anymore. 
One man one wife  for life, a true man's  man! GOD First , Family,Pets and then maybe he just might get in the back of the of line of life, for he always gave all with a smile and a praise to our JESUS. 
My greatest memories are to many to list . 
He love me as if he raise me up all our lives.

I work at Sam's Club gas station. Darrell was one of my favorite delivery drivers, he kept me laughing , he loved life.I will miss seeing him pull up and deliver gas to me I always looked so forward to seeing him pull up so we could talk. R.I.P. my friend till I see you again.

I didn't know Darrell, but I have friends and family that are truckers. I travel 16 a lot. My prayers and thoughts are with the family and friends of this gentleman.

I did not know Darrell but with family that worked in trucking hauling gas the fear of an accident was always a concern. I take 16 everyday and as I set in traffic all I could do is pray that everyone would be ok. I am so sorry for your loss and seeing his photos shows that he was truly a great character that I wish I could have met. My thoughts and prays will remain with you.

When I heard about this tragedy, I was so sad it hurt me as if he was family. I am so sorry to all your family. I wish you all well and he is in heaven now. 

I was coworker of ol’ Daddy D at B&b transport. We always kept in touch by phone after We went our separate ways from B&b and shared our memories and loved to joke around with each other  Darrell was a great friend and mentor and roll model to me . He always expressed how much he loved to eat his breakfast, how he loved his dogs and how much he loved his family. I am very sorry for the family’s loss and my thoughts and prayers go out to you.

I didn't know Darrell, but when I heard of the loss of his life, my heart ached.  I'm praying for his family and that God will wrap his loving arms around each and every one of you and give you a peace that only comes from Him.

I didn't know Darrell but I know people like him.  Take comfort in knowing that he did everything he could to save another human being.  Sadly it cost him everything.   My condolences to all of his family and friends.

Drale as was your nick name when you became my trainer and mentor at B&B transport.  You was always a nice and caring man whom always treated me like family. You always pushed me to do my best and do it right!
You will be greatly missed brother!

Darrell was a friend who helped teach me how to haul gasoline safely back in 2003 at Superior Transport , Inc. in Conover.

Later we again worked together at B&B Transport, Inc. in Hickory .

Darrell professed that he loved Jesus Christ as his Savior 🎚.
