David Allen Dotson

Maiden – David Allen Dotson, 71 of Maiden went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center with his wife by his side.

Born on December 29, 1951 in Watauga County, NC, he was the son of the late Lillie Dotson. David enjoyed spending time with his wife, his cats and his horses. He also enjoyed target shooting where his wife would many times out shoot him. One of his greatest joys was bringing laughter to others. David tried to live his life to honor his Savior. He was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to his mother, David is preceded in death by his sisters Shirley, Tootsie, Sue and June.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife and best friend of 35 years, Tammy Hawn Dotson; 6 nephews, Larry, Johnny, Rickey, Bucky, Logan and Corey;4 nieces Becky, Sherry, Ashlyn, and (Godchild) Taylor; mother and father-in-law, Diane and Melvin Hawn Sr.; brothers-in-law, Roy Lee Prince and Melvin Hawn Jr. and those that knew him as “Popgun” Kolt and Kammy. He will also be missed by his fur babies and four legged kids.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Root officiating. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park’s Mausoleum Chapel.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry (ECCCM) in David’s name.
