HICKORY – David Alexander Pruett, 72 of Hickory passed away on February 21, 2026 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
Born on August 9, 1953 in Burke County, he was the son of the late Clyde and Barbara Underlin Pruett. David was an avid bowler and he could fix anything. He worked for Hickory City fire department for over 15 years. David was a loving husband, father, Pawpa, brother, and friend to all who knew him. He kept himself busy in his later years by working in HVAC and on rental properties. Anyone who knew him will miss his dry sense of humor.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Becky Pruett; children, Andy Pruett, Courtney Pruett Riggs and husband Alan; grandson, Noah Riggs; brother, Stephen Pruett and wife Karen; sister, Janice Eckard and husband Ken; uncle, Robert Pruett and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 2 PM at Catawba Memorial Park with Monty Riggs officiating. Burial will follow.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 PM – 1:45 PM at Catawba Funeral Home.
