Dewey David Houston

CONOVER - Dewey David Houston, 70, passed away May 14, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Dewey was born January 10, 1944 in Catawba Co. to the late John Daniel and Eliza Jane Stafford Houston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Junior Houston; sisters, Lillie Smith, Sudie Kanupp and Betty Smith Bailey and a brother, Daniel Houston. He was a member of Spirit Life Church of God, self employed in furniture mfg. and liked hunting and racing. Surviving are his wife, Naomi Griffith Houston of the home; daughters, Samantha Koerner of Conover, Michelle Shepherd and husband, James, of Catawba, Stephanie Houston and fiancée, Billy Lowman, of Conover and Renae Deal of Columbia, S. C.; a son, Clifton Griffith of Gastonia; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters, Polly Meunier of Hickory and Talethia Smith of Wilkesboro and a brother, Donnie Houston of Longview. The family will receive friends Friday, May 16 from 1:45 until 2:45 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, May 16, 2014, at 3:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
