Mrs. Doris Jean Hefner Waters

Doris was born May 29, 1929 in Catawba County to the late Mernie and Lucille Sigmon Hefner.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church where she was very active. She served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 20 years and sang in the choir. Doris was a member of the XYZ and the Women of the ELCA. She also attended St. Stephens 60 and over Club at Our Saviour Lutheran Church. She was the owner and operator of Doris Beauty Salon on Springs Road in Conover.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley for the great care of our loved one.

Survivors include her husband John Dewitt “Dee” Waters of the home; two sons Michael Waters and wife Hillary, of Mooresville, David Waters and wife Debbie, of Conover; a daughter Melva Grabar and her husband Ron of Supply; a grandson Devin Waters and wife Allison, of Hickory; two granddaughters; Dia Hartsell and husband Rob, of Hickory and Kristen Irizarry and husband Jesus of Cleveland Ohio, five great grandchildren; and a brother Richard Hefner of Conover;

Funeral services will be Monday April 12, 2010 at 4:oo PM at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church with the Reverends David Seymour and Scott Bollinger officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 PM until 3:45 PM at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.
