Dorothy Francis Harris

Dorothy Francis Corvin Harris, 83 of Newton went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 11th, 2024 at Abernethy Laurels surrounded by her family.

Born on April 29th, 1941 in Wythe County, Virginia, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Lacy and Nannie Cline Corvin. Dorothy attended Faith Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Hickory. She loved to cook for her family and spoiling all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Freda Wenditz; 3 brothers, Garvin Corvin, Kurt Corvin and Den Corvin and a daughter-in-law, Aliece Harris.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her husband of 62 years, Curtis Harris; 2 sons, Mark Harris and Rodney Harris and wife, Lori; 4 grandchildren, Kyle Harris and Fiance, Katie, Randi Harris and fiance, Daniel, Kaitlyn Lanman and husband, Zach and Ryan Harris and wife, Nichole; 6 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jhett, Sawyer, Jude, Adley and Wylan; a sister, Edna Harley and a brother, Don Corvin.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Thursday, May 16th, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Arthur Yount officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hickory Kidney Foundation in Dorothy’s name.
