
Garrett Walker “Bud” Yost Jr., 78 of Taylorsville, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior July 14, 2015 with his family by his side. Born April 9, 1937 in Bluefield WV., he was preceded in death by his parents the late Garrett Walker Yost Sr. and Vicie Pearl Ball Yost, and brother, Fred Eugene McHone. He was a graduate of Beaver High School, class of 1955.
Bud retired to Taylorsville NC in 1998, after a long and distinguished career in Sales and Sales Management in Bluefield, WV with a few different companies. He was a member of the Viewmont Baptist Church, Hickory NC, and the Alexander County Republican Party, as well as active roles in a few other organizations in the Hickory area. He was interested in any activity in which his 4 grandsons participated. He loved dogs especially his beloved “Lucky”, and the Duke Blue Devils. He enjoyed reading, and staying in touch with friends and attending Class Reunions.
He is survived and loved by the love of his life for 57 years wife Patricia Pelter Yost of Taylorsville NC; daughter, Julie Yost Klemm, and husband Richard George Klemm of Norcross GA.; son, John Walker Yost, and wife Donna Stewart Yost of Huntersville NC.; sister Charlotte Smith and husband Bill Smith of Quincy Il.; sister-in-law Dorothy McHone of Springfield VA.; his pride and joy 4 grandsons, Joshua Aaron Yost of Huntersville, NC., Richard Walker Klemm of Atlanta GA., Andrew Lane Yost of Huntersville NC., and Bryan Thomas Klemm of Norcross, GA.; nieces, Lisa Smith Oakley, Karen McHone Epley; great nieces and nephews, Allison Oakley Hall (Dustin), Sullivan Oakley, Peter Epley (Kelley Smith), and Deanna Epley.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Viewmont Baptist Church with Rev. Sandi Hood of Catawba Regional Hospice officiating, with a special letter from Dr. Jay Robison, Senior Pastor of Viewmont Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Gathering Room.
In lieu of flowers, his wishes were to have memorial contributions made to The Viewmont Baptist “Preparing For Tomorrow Today” (PFTT) Fund, 1246 2nd St. NE, Hickory, NC 28601 or Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
