Gary Alan McKinney

Gary Alan McKinney was born July 26, 1961 to Richard Keith and Patsy King McKinney in Hickory, NC. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church and graduated from East Burke High School, class of 1979. He was previously employed by Pepsi Cola, Discount Auto Glass and his parent’s retail outlet stores, Springs Road Outlet and Longview Outlet.

Gary, 55, of Henry River, a beloved son and brother passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at his residence from a heart attack.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter and Lena Silver McKinney, his maternal grandparents, Bill and Helen Ball King and his aunt, Lori King Smith.

Gary is survived by his mother, Patsy King McKinney; fiancée, Rose Ann Martin; sisters, Elizabeth McKinney Bechinski and husband Steve of Mooresville, Maria McKinney Higgins and husband Josh of Granite Falls, Nichole McKinney of Henry River, Debra Hollifield of California; nephews, David and Philip Higgins and Danyon McKinney; nieces, Natashia Bechinski, Danyelle McKinney, and Taylor Higgins; great niece, Allison Higgins; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and beloved pets, Dracko and Einstein.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church, 324 2nd Avenue SE with Rev. Richard Schwandt officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. at the church.
