Mrs. Geneva Elizabeth Shepherd

GENEVA C. SHEPHERD CONOVER – Geneva Elizabeth Cazire Shepherd, 83, of Conover went to her heavenly home on July 3, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born on September 15, 1930 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Katie Lail Cazire. Geneva was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of East First Street Baptist Church in Newton where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for over 40 years. She worked in the furniture business for over 44 years. Geneva loved gardening and cooking, and annual trips to Myrtle Beach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Earl and Charles Cazire, and sister, Louise Tutherow. Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Vine H. Shepherd of Conover; son, Jerry Shepherd and wife Terry of Newton; grandchildren, Tera Alcala and husband Joe of Oviedo, Fl, Bryan Shepherd of Newton; great-grandchildren, John and Eli Alcala of Oviedo, FL; brother, Ralph Cazire and wife Brenda of Oxford, NC; sister, Dot Hedrick of Oxford, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on July 7, 2014 at 12 PM with Pastor Mickey Morree officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 AM-12 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thanks to Geneva’s Caregivers, Cindy, Connie, Holly, Jeannie, Wilma, Becky, Michelle, and Hospice.
