He was born in Catawba County to the late George Richard Burns and Minnie Buff Burns on February 3, 1945.
Jim worked in automotive business until his retirement. In his earlier years he was a musician in a band.
After retirement Jim’s passion was woodworking. He loved to build things and was happiest when he saw the results of the work of his hands. What people will remember most about Jim was his sense of humor. He could always make you laugh in any situation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his daughter Jennifer Burns; brothers Max Burns and Richard Dickie Burns
Jim is survived by his wife Pamela Burns of the home; sons James Allen Burns Jr. (Jamie) of Gastonia, Scott Burns and wife Leslie of Granite Falls; Jeremy Burns and wife Katie of Gastonia; his daughter Ashtan Burns of Hickory; 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; special cousins and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakeview Baptist Church on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 11:00 am.
