HICKORY – Mr. James “Jim” Miller of Hickory passed away on July 16, 2021 after a brief illness.
He was the son of Arthur Samuel and Florence Lohr Miller of Homer City, PA. After their deaths, he and his brother were raised by Ernest and Hazel Miller of Homer City, PA.
Jim worked as an Engineer at the Hickory General Electric plant for 25 years before retiring in 1994. He enjoyed doing woodworking in his shop. Jim has hundreds of DVDs and copies of Woodworking magazines and thoroughly enjoyed his time in the “shop”.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Doris Miller, who passed in 2006.
Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Debbie Poovey and husband Chuck of Hickory, Cheri Toney and husband Jeff of Hickory, Jimmy Miller Jr. of Hickory, Jon Miller and wife Penny of Cary; grandsons, Danny Poovey and wife Angie of Granite Falls, Jake Toney of Cullowhee; great-granddaughters, Molly and Maggie Poovey from Granite Falls; brother, Samuel “Paul” Miller of Rochester, NY, sisters, Ressie Miller and Dean Arford both of Homer City, PA.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 12 PM – 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home.
