

HICKORY—Griffin “Griff” Stoker, 88, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born James Griffin Stoker in Montgomery County on December 9, 1928 to the late Manuel Ambrose and Anna Mae Huffines Stoker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Ingold Stoker; his son Steffen Michael Stoker; 3 brothers and 2 sister. Griffin was a member of Westview United Methodist Church. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Dayton. Griffin worked as Senior System Analyst at Lenoir Rhyne College, and Retired as Plant Manager at Carolina Solvents Inc. He is survived by his sons, Kerry Stoker and wife Becky of Newton, Eric Stoker and wife Lynette of Hickory, and Scott Stoker and wife Tinita of Hickory: grandsons Josh Stoker of Hickory and Andy Stoker of Granite Falls; granddaughter Jordan Beucler and husband Greg of Hickory; and a great granddaughter Raegan Beucler of Hickory; sisters Drusilla Ingold, Anna Beeson and Sue Blake. The family will receive friends Monday, February 6, 2017 from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm at Westview United Methodist Church. Funeral services are to follow at 2:00 pm with Reverend Glenda Bramlet officiating. Following the services, Griffin will be laid to rest at Catawba Memorial Park with military honors presented by American Legion Post 48.
