

Janice Frances Barrett Rogers, 87, of Hickory, departed this life peacefully surrounded by her loved ones following an extended illness on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:04 p.m. Janice was born in Cocke County, TN to the late John Barrett and Conzatia Ashley.
Jan (as her friends and family called her) was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Rogers with whom she shared 33 years with; sisters, Wilma Valentine, Charlene Camiola, Jessie Roberts, Wanda Rizzo, and Nellie Brewer; brother, Jim Barrett; sons-in-law, Wayne Starr and Bill Stokes; and great-grandson, Josh Weer.
Despite those profound losses, Janice’s legacy lives on through her surviving family. She leaves behind many loved ones. She was a cherished mother to her daughters, Susie Stokes, Linda Starr, Trina Mendoza and husband Ed, sons, Garry Huff, Rick Huff and wife, Lisa; stepson, Ronnie Rogers and wife Tammy; brother, Ronnie Barrett and wife Meschelyn; sister-in-law, Joyce Barrett; brother-in-law, Ben Brewer; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Life wasn’t always easy for Janice, but she did what she could with the hand she was dealt. Janice retired from the medical field where she worked as a CNA for many years. Janice’s role as a homemaker was one she took great pride in. She enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening. She loved bird watching, dominos, hiking, going to the beach, playing bingo and causing chaos when she played Phase 10.
Janice will be remembered for her unwavering love, sass and wild fiery spirit. Her life was filled with many beautiful things, people and memories. She loved the Lord and most importantly, her family.
Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we say farewell to a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, we take comfort in knowing that the legacy of love and faith will continue to guide us.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, NC at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Millinor officiating.
There will be a private burial at a later date.
