Jerry William Gilbert

Maiden – Jerry William Gilbert, 83 of Maiden, NC went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on January 2nd, 1942, in Lincoln County, NC, Jerry was the son of the late Roscoe Lee and Mary Isabelle Tucker Gilbert. Jerry was a competitive fisherman and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He retired from Broyhill Furniture after 40 years of devoted service. He also enjoyed word search puzzles and daily Bible devotions. He attended Mt. Anderson Baptist Church in Maiden, NC. Jerry will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Hubert “Hub” Gilbert (Francis), Tony, and Victor “Vick” Gilbert (Jonnie) and 2 sisters, Gladys Hull (Yule) and Loretta Whitesides (Carl).

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Jane Gilbert; 2 daughters, Mary Ann Calloway (David) and Teresa “Dianne” Korn (Rick) and his son, Jeffery “Jeff” Gilbert (Danielle); his brother, Roscoe Gilbert and his sister, Lynda Beard.

His grandchildren, Derek Calloway, Michelle Hartzog (Kurt), Donna Sherrill (Tyler), Preston Gilbert (Holli), Ryan Gilbert (Breanna), Zachary Howard Gilbert.

His great grandchildren, Emma-Leigh Calloway, Adyson Hartzog, Noah Hartzog, Eli Sherrill, Payton Sherrill, Westin Hartzog, and Ila Gilbert.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 24th,2025, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Donald Cline and Pastor Charles Ingle officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest following the service at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons International and/or Relay for Life of Catawba County in Jerry’s name.
