Jodi Michelle Voorhees Harris, 52, passed away on October 7, 2024. Jodi was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (“Nana”), sister, aunt, co-worker, friend, and fur baby mama. She was born on May 10, 1972 in Catawba County to the late Richard Glenn Voorhees and Ruth Barber Voorhees.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Voorhees.
Jodi’s passion was caring for people and she demonstrated this by her fierce love for her family and her career with Catawba County EMS since 1995. She held several different roles over the years. She was once an FTO and a crew chief, a QA officer, and helped teach in-service. Always wanting to put others’ needs before her own, she also went and helped out after hurricane Katrina. Jodi was beautiful inside and out and to know her was to love her. Her smile would light up a room. She enjoyed being a “work mom” to younger co-workers and had many work friends that she considered family. Her favorite things were spending time with her family (especially her grandbabies), taking care of her animals, and planting and tending to her flowers. Jodi also enjoyed attending Christ Church when her work schedule allowed.
Those left to cherish Jodi’s memory are her husband, Bradley Harris; sons, Caleb Peterson and wife Courtney, Matthew Carter, Zachary Harris and wife Taylor, and Devon Harris; daughter, Lindsay Harris; brothers, Ronald Voorhees, and Richard Voorhees and wife Sharon; sister, Susan Cutler and husband Mike; grandchildren, Mia and Bennett Peterson; aunt Kathy Voorhees Thornton of Panama City, Florida; mother-in-law, Jayne Harris of Georgia, and father-in-law, Larry Harris of Indiana; many special nieces and nephews; and her fur babies (4 dogs, 2 cats), Luna, Murphy, Lucy, Chewy, Boo, and Olivia.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
A receiving of friends to celebrate Jodi’s life will be held at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 2:30 pm until 5:00 pm.
