HICKORY – John Franklin Houser, 94 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 4, 1930 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late T. Ray and Lola Wesson Houser. John loved the Lord and he preached at Millersville Baptist Church in Taylorsville and Bible Baptist Church in Hickory for 14 years. He filled in as interim Pastor where he was needed. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 75 years, Jean Houser; son, Jerry Dean Houser and his 9 siblings.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jewel Blount and husband Mike, Jeanette Adkins and husband David, Stephen John Houser; Grandchildren, Amy Reep, Nathan Blount and wife Cathy, Shelley Brown and husband Kent, Justin Houser, Shea Houser and wife Crystal; great-grandchildren, Taylor Elliff and husband Alex, Tori Sain and husband John, Aydan Reep, Addison Reep, Lynleigh Blount, Conner Rowe, Caitlyn Houser; great-great-granddaughters, Harper Brown, Savannah Sain; numerous nieces , nephews; his beloved fur baby, Fifi and other family members.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 1 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Hooks officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM – 1 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VIA Health Partners at Lincoln County.
