John "Alvin" Ward

Alvin was born September 23, 1927 in Catawba Co. to the late James and Lula Watts Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hilda Robbins Ward, a son, James David Ward.

He was a charter member of East Hickory Baptist Church and was a retired owner and operator of used car dealership.

Surviving are four daughters; Martha Elder and husband Dean of Hickory, Alice Honeycutt and husband Mike of Charlotte, Patricia Houston and husband Marshall and Vicky Carroll, both of Conover, three sons; Richard Robbins and wife Clara of Hickory, Ray Robbins of Cary and Dennis Ward and wife Sheila of Hickory, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren two sisters; Mary Barnes Campbell of Hickory and Jeanna Ritter and husband Bob, both of Hickory, and a brother Henry Ward and wife Lib of Hickory.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at East Hickory Baptist Church.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, at 3:00 PM at East Hickory Church with Reverend Homer Green and Reverend Kenneth Lambert officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by The American Legion Post # 48. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
