He was born on January 24, 1947, to the late John Henry and Zula Callhan New in Mitchell County.
In addition to his parents was proceeded in death by his sisters Brenda Robinson, Connie Duncan and Nancy Buchanan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son Joey Douglas New of the home; grandson Johnny New of the home former wife and friend Shirley Kiser and her husband Ralph of Connelly Springs, and his faithful companion Fred.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Brookford City Cemetery.
