HICKORY-Jonathan (Johnny) Richard Finney II, 72, of Hickory went home to be with his Lord on February 6, 2015 at his residence.
Born on October 18, 1942 in Surrey County, he was the son of the late Valk Finney and Ina Williamson. Johnny was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend to all who knew him. He was of the Baptist faith. Johnny owned his own business Sure Sharpe for 38 years. He loved music and played the guitar and bass. Johnny was an avid NASCAR and football fan. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. Johnny had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making everyone laugh.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Brenda Finney of Hickory; children, Connie Finney Parker and husband, James of Claremont, Jonathan Finney III and wife Kimberly of Hickory; grandchildren, Julia Parker of Claremont, Jacob Parker of Hickory, JoAnna Parker of Claremont, Victoria Treadway of Hickory, Olivia Treadway of Hickory; sisters, Pamela Evans and husband Edward of Newton, Alta Murphy of High Point, Sandy Matthews of VA, Lynn Binge and husband Jerry of Elkin; numerous nieces and nephews, and his cats, Fred and Panther.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 4:30 at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Preacher Jason White officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
