Born on March 19, 1941, in Lakeland, Florida, Laveta lived a full and beautiful life grounded in faith, compassion, and unwavering strength. Throughout her lifetime she embraced many callings—teacher, nurse, and florist—each one a reflection of her desire to help, nurture, and bring beauty into the world.
Laveta’s devotion to her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved Jesus above all else, and her greatest joy was sharing that love with others. She offered prayers freely, comforted anyone in need, and carried a gentle, radiant kindness wherever she went. Her second great love was her family, whom she cherished deeply and guided with wisdom, humor, and an open heart.
She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and a warmth that could light up any room. Creative, funny, loving, and endlessly resourceful, Laveta was the person everyone turned to—an extraordinary problem solver and a woman of remarkable inner strength.
Laveta is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald Bryan LaMontagne, 82; her son Robert Gerald LaMontagne; her daughters Lisa LaMontagne Gardner, Laurie LaMontagne White, and Michelle LaMontagne Hawkins; and five loving grandchildren. Her love endures in each of them, and in all who were blessed to know her.
Laveta was, in every way, a truly wonderful woman. Her faith, her joy, and her kindness will live on in our hearts forever, guiding us toward the Lord and reminding us always to do the right thing.
A service celebrating Laveta’s life will be held on December 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Drum Funeral Home Chapel in Hickory, NC.
