Born on May 18, 1930 in French Lick, IN, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Nora Atkins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harold Edwin McGillen Jr.; brothers, Curtis, Dallas, Coy, Lloyd and Paul Atkins; sisters, Mabel Dillon, Ruth Henderson, and Vivian Hoelle.
She is survived by her son, Wayne McGillen and wife Shirley; daughters, Karen Yount and husband Mike, Debra McIntosh; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Catawba Funeral Home in Hickory, NC at 12:30 pm Thursday, May 9, 2019 with Reverend Dr. Michael Hone of Transformation Church (formally Hickory 1st Church of God) officiating. Burial to follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to service from 11:00 to 12:15 pm at the Funeral Home.
