Linda Hagler Norman

Linda Hagler Norman, 85, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Abernethy Laurels after more than a decade battling Alzheimer’s disease and declining health. She is now at peace with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The joy that was always so prevalent in her personality is once more.

Linda was born on July 20, 1938 in Kannapolis, NC to Lawrence and Martha Hagler. She was an only child. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and her husband of over 48 years, Terry Norman.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Susan (Jeff) Brittain of Hickory; and sons, Rick Norman of Florida, Dean (Patty) Norman of Hickory; granddaughters, Megan Brittain of Hickory, Keegan Brittain of Charlotte and Heather (Seth) Parnell of Yadkinville; and great-grandchildren, Amelia Parnell and Silas Parnell.

She attended A L Brown High School in Kannapolis where she was a member of the marching band and a majorette. After graduating high school, she attended East Carolina University. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family and spending time with them.

Our mother lived a life full of love, happiness and joy in contrast to the hardships she endured. She always looked for the good in people and the positive possibilities of the future. She loved being out in the sun and especially loved the beach.

She had a loving, caring heart and would literally give her last dollar to someone in need. She loved working with the public and getting to know the people she came in contact with each day. She worked in healthcare most of her career, including 30 years at Frye Regional Medical Center from where she retired in 2007.

Words can never express the feeling of loss that we are experiencing right now. We are thankful for the time we have been blessed with and know we will be together again.

A gathering of friends will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Hickory, 3224 20th Ave SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
