

Marshall was born March 19, 1926 in Catawba Co. to the late Gaither and Rosalie Parsons Winters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Winters Stafford.
Marshall was a retiree of the United States Air Force having served our country during World War II. In addition to bases in the United States, he was stationed in many countries including Germany, France, Italy, Korea, Japan and the Philippines. His work included weapons maintenance on jet aircraft and small arms maintenance.
Marshall enjoyed playing baseball during his youth and was a lifetime Yankees fan. He also enjoyed playing checkers and was a champion of many tournaments.
Surviving are his sister, Aileen Winters Herman Witt of Hickory; brother, Edwin Winters and wife, Mary Lou, of Claremont; nieces, Melinda Smith and husband, David, of Newton, Kathy Brewer and husband, David, of Longview; nephews, Daniel Herman of Hickory and John Herman and wife, Leesa of Rolesville; several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 18, at 3:00 P. M. at Bethel Lutheran Church, Claremont with Pastor Eric Hollar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors being provided by the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:15 - 2:45 P. M. at the church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff of Unit 1C of the Community Living Center at the W. G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury. The staff’s loving care of Marshall during the past eight years was exceptional and supports their motto posted at the unit entrance, ” No One Walks the Path Alone”.
