Mary Hollar Benfield

HICKORY---Mary Hollar Little Benfield of Hickory passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Frye Regional Hospital. Mary was born November 20, 1920 in Catawba County to the late Knox L. Hollar and Vandia Huffman Hollar. Mary was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church. She retired from Sherrill Furniture as personnel manager. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her 1st husband Carl L. Little, 2nd husband; Vance P. Benfield; a son Kenn L. Little; grandson Randy Sigmon; son-in-law Fred Huffman; 6 brothers and 4 sisters. Mary was survived by her daughter Brenda L. Brittain and husband Richard of Hickory and Joyce L. Huffman of Conover; grandchildren Kim Powell and husband Steve of Senoia, GA, Kevin Little and wife Susan of Holly Springs, Gina Shook and husband Jonas of Catawba, Tammy Bickston and husband Steve of Richmond, VA, Rodney Harris and wife Becky of Hickory; great grandchildren Chris Sigmon and wife Christin, Matt Powell and wife Sara Beth, Katie Powell, Christian Harris, Ethan Harris, Savannah Little, Candace Little, Lilah Bickston and Abby Bickston; brother-in-law Harvey Little and wife Phyllis of Taylorsville, ; a special friend of the family Gerry Ginete of Vale , and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 10:45 am to 11:45 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Kevin Graudin and Lay Minister Eric Hauss officiating. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 12:00 pm at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
