Mary Frances Walls Bumgardner

HICKORY—Mary Frances Walls Bumgardner, 87 passed away September 2, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospices after a period of declining health. Mary was born June 23, 1929 in Buncombe County to the late Marvin and Binah Williams Walls. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband J.E. Bumgardner; her daughter Cynthia Steel and her sisters Athlene Moody and Velva king. Surviving is her daughter Mary Elizabeth Buzard of Hickory; 5 grandchildren James Ryan Steele and wife April, Adam Steele and wife Stephanie, Danielle Pennington and husband Jeff, Angie Cordova and husband Marcos and Brad Buzard and wife Carrie; 12 great grandchildren; a sister Marie Chambers and a brother Merrill Walls. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 2:00pm at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Michael Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
