Nan Gordon Buff Moss

Nan Gordon Buff Moss, 81, of Hickory, passed away August 31, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born October 28, 1931 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Jason Eubert Buff and Helen Gordon Buff. Nan was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Hickory Fire Department Ladies Auxillary. She loved to bowl and worked for over 25 years with First Citizens Bank.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Robert Moss, Sr. and a brother, Paul K. Buff.

Nan is survived by her daughter, Nancy Moore and husband Sheldon of Hickory; son, James Robert Moss, Jr of Hickory; grandchildren, Dale Shoffner and wife Jennifer, Mark Shoffner, Scott Shoffner and wife Rica, Kristy Harrell and husband Richard, Jennifer Bolick and husband Gary, Kisha Laford and husband David, Jason Moss and Zachary Moss; great-grandchildren, Caleb Bolick, Carter Bolick, Madison Harrell, McKenna Harrell, Lauren Shoffner, Nate Shoffner, and Ayden Shoffner; sister, Helen Buff Pitts and husband James of Plum Tree, NC; nephew, Darrell Pitts and wife Sharon and their son, Brandon Pitts of Plum Tree, NC; and sister-in-law, Bertha Buff of Black Mountain, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Dr. Scott Shoffner officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
