Nettie Faye Wallen

Nettie Faye Weatherman Wallen, 76, of Conover, went home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2014 at the Sherrills Ford Hospice House. Born September 27, 1937 in Spruce Pine, NC, she was the daughter of the late Cumley Milton Weatherman and Retta Sarah English Weatherman. She loved the church and was an active member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. She was previously a teacher’s aide, she loved to walk and retired as the activities director in a long term care center.

In addition to her parents, Nettie was preceded in death by her son, David Allen Wallen; brothers, Fred Weatherman, Arthur (Ott) Pittman and Ralph Pittman; and sister, Neva Pittman Jarvis.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher Wallen of Asheville, and Fredrick Phillips and wife Sandy of Conover; grandchildren, Derek Phillips, Dylan Phillips, Trevor Phillips, Christopher David Wallen, Eli Wallen and Benjamin Wallen; great grandchildren, Ayden Phillips and Jayce Phillips; and brother, Jay Weatherman of Laurinburg, NC.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Hickory with Pastor John Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Hickory.

The family will receive friends, Friday, March 14, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
