

He was born in Harmony, NC, January 27, 1942 to the late Horace Henley Lackey and Ethel Brock Lackey.
Paul embraced ideas, people and adventures throughout his life. He dove into his passions from woodworking to boomerangs to video production. He cultivated a deep knowledge of whatever piqued his curiosity, turning a few of those into businesses, like his videography business– Court Vision. He loved striking up a conversation with whoever came his way. He listened, loved and laughed with his family and friends. His humor and the twinkle in his blue eyes are unforgettable. Paul had a great love of music and the soundtrack to his life was rich and varied. He introduced those around him to new music and he is remembered by the music he loved and shared.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death 3 sisters, Ruth, Shelby and Karen.
Left to cherish his memories are: his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Wood Lackey; son, Joseph Alan Lackey of Hickory; daughters, Lisa Lackey Simutami and husband, Abel of Chapel Hill, Alison Lackey Romano and husband, Andrew of Poolesville, MD; grandchildren, Aaron Romano, Olivia Romano, Riley Simutami, and Rainey Lackey; a sister-in-law, Mellon Pinkston of Taylorsville; a daughter-in-law Anita Bevins of Silver Spring, MD; beloved dog, Magic and a beloved cat, Swiffer.
A Gathering of Friends to share the evening in Paul’s Memory will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 7:00 – 9:00pm at Drum Funeral Home, 940 29th Ave. NE, Hickory, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to: Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson, Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
