Philip Ray Sapp

Hickory – Philip Ray Sapp, 89 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21st, 2025, at Springs of Catawba.

Born on April 12th, 1936, Ray was the son of the late Matthew James and Eva Mae Metheney Sapp. Ray loved to go to flea markets and watch the fish in his koi pond. He was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Sapp.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Tina Pryor and husband, Alfred; his son, Kevin Sapp; his 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Sapp, Alexandria Huckelberry and husband, Tyler, Austin Pryor and wife, Haley and Isaac Pryor and wife, Tabitha; his brother, Bennie Sapp and wife, Wanda, as well as 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Friday, October 31st, 2025, at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Brown officiating. Burial will follow the service at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Springs of Catawba in Ray’s name.
