Rachel Catherine Lail

Rachel Catherine Scism Lail, 74, of Conover, passed away on October 12, 2017 after a long illness. Born in Cleveland County, NC on January 24, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Grier Scism and Hazeleen Black Scism.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Alexander Alston Lail.

Rachel is survived by her husband of 54 years, Conley Alston Lail; daughter, Notra Lail Porter and husband Brandon of New Bern; son, Michael A. Lail and wife Sabrina of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Stephen Michael Lail and Jacob Christopher Lail of Charlotte and Aria Cerys Porter of New Bern; and sister, Anita Scism of Hickory.

Rachel was of the Baptist faith with membership at Zoar Baptist Church in Casar.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.
