Mrs. Reita Donkle Lackey

Reita was born December 17, 1943 in Catawba Co. to the late Harvey Earl Donkle and Ruby Yoder Bolick and her husband, Charles “Vernon” Lackey.

She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and served as the church organist for 42 years and church secretary for several years. She retired as an executive assistant to the manager of the N. C. Employment security Commission.

Surviving are sons, Charles “Kevin” Lackey and wife Amanda of Vale, Chad Eric Lackey and wife Shelley of Taylorsville and Jason Neal Lackey and wife Erica of Hickory, granddaughters, Amanda Lea Lackey of Hickory and Whitney Bush of Robbinsville, N.C.., grandsons, Daniel Lackey, Jacob Lackey and Dayton Lackey all of Hickory and Noah Lackey of Taylorsville, great granddaughter, Serenidy Bush of Robbinsville, NC., sister, Janice McCaslin and husband Austin of Vale, nephew, Tim McCaslin and wife Renee of Vale and a great niece, Amber McCaslin of Vale,

Services will be Saturday, October 2, 2010, at 4:00 P. M. at Zion Lutheran Church with the Reverend John Woodard officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 – 3:45 P. M. at the church.
